On Wednesday 16 November 2022, Innovator Trust hosted its annual Women in Tech event at VODAWORLD in Johannesburg. Female business owners in the ICT sector from across the country joined at the venue and online for a day of insightful keynote addresses and panel discussions by female industry leaders. The theme for this year’s event was Power Up and the Maven Solutions team found the panel discussion called “The power of her seat at the table” especially thought-provoking. Professor Thuli Madonsela, Smangele Nkosi, Heather Sonn and SMME owner Ruby Moodley shared their thoughts and experiences of being a woman in the upper management levels of organisations, how this impacts on their personal lives and what tools they have to assist them with dealing with the pressure and frustrations they encounter every day.
At the end of the day, Innovator Trust held its annual WIT Awards ceremony, where they recognised the top female achievers in their incubation programmes across South Africa. Maven Solutions are so proud of the recognition received by current cohort members as well as alumni from our previous incubation programmes.
Unfortunately the ladies were edged out by Gauteng based Synergy Trading & Projects, but we all love owner Nomphomelelo, and you can’t win them all.
Additional special mention to Kim Palmer and On The Ball College as 2 of the graduates from their YEP Programme sponsored by Innovator Trust and completed in 2021 won overall Best Participant and 1st and 2nd place for their Business Plan presentations. Congratulations Kim.
